American Diploma & SAT
test:
-
A student
receives from EAS the American High School Diploma which is equivalent
to Egyptian High School Diploma by the Egyptian Ministry of Education
decree No.155 for the year 2004. Students then will be eligible to apply
for Egyptian universities within the %5 for international schools and
foreign students. The school is accredited by CITA on May
18-2004.Students are also eligible to apply for American universities or
universities of any other country.

Students
are awarded from 0.5 (for subjects that are taken twice through out
the 4 years) to 1 credit for each subject successfully completed
during school years 9 – 12 toward a minimum total of 24 credits.
The student MUST complete a minimum required 24 credits successfully
during grades 9 – 12. They must also take S.A.T 1 (Mandatory) and S.A.T.
2 (Optional) if they wish to enter the University for a Higher
Professional Degree.

Students
are obligated to study a total of (8) subjects during school years G11
and G12.They study (5) subjects in G11 and (3) subjects in G12.

In
accordance with the last amendment in the Ministry of Education laws,
Students must attend Arabic, Religion & civics lessons according to the
ministry curriculum and they will be examined under the supervision of
Ministry of education personnel. According to this amendment, students
won't be accepted in facilities unless they passed.

The
requirements for students in the American system to attend Universities
, will depend on a combination of grades from school and SAT results as
follows:

% 40 is allocated for the required eight (8) subjects of the school.

% 60 for the SAT1 (Reasoning) according to the student's best result of
not less than 1440 out of 2400 for (public) faculties & 1200 out of
2400 in case of private faculties starting from the academic year
2007-2008.

The student who sits for the (Subject) Test or SAT2, and receives a
minimum score of
1100 out of 1600, receives an additional 15% will be added to his
exam marks
starting from the academic year 2007-2008.
Important Notices:
** Starting from the school year 2007/2008, Minimum score to pass SAT1
will be 1440 out of 2400 (60%).
And Minimum score to pass SAT2 will be 1100 out of 1600.
** To be eligible for universities starting from the
college year 2008/2009, a
student must spend at least 3 years in the American system.

Students
study the Egyptian curriculum in Arabic, Religion and Civics they
must pass the Official exams in these three subjects to be
eligible to apply for Egyptian universities although grades from these
exams do not count in the students GPA.In some special cases like for
students transferring from foreign countries, exams in Arabic, Religion
& civics may be postponed until college years but students can
not graduate from colleges before passing these exams.( Check with
school administration for any change of laws regarding this matter ).

There are
other subject areas that are graded and help to increase students GPA
such as Attendance, Behavior, Conduct, Special Projects , Academic
Competitions and Physical Education & Honors Classes.
What is SAT? (Scholastic Aptitude Test)
American system students in grades 11 and 12 should take 8 subjects (5
subjects in G11 and 3 subjects in G12) that represent 40% of the
total scores; students should also take SAT 1 tests that represent the other
60% of the total score.
So, what is SAT?
SAT means Scholastic Aptitude Test.
Courses are offered in the school for SAT tests.
There are two SAT tests that students can sit
SAT (1): All students must take, it includes 2 subjects only (Math
and English), the test is a 3 hours 45 minutes, written (Multiple choice
questions) for both subjects, but recently English test includes some
essays.
The SAT (1) test (Mandatory) is offered (6) trails per academic year, the
student can sit for the test starting from grade seven (PSAT; preparation
for SAT, its just a practice stage) but test scores is counted for the
student starting from G 11 and G 12 taking their best score obtained and
sent to the university of the students choice.
Both English and Math scores are out of 2400 points (800
Math, 800 Reading, 800 writing)
Sat (1) allows for ALL faculties except (Medicine – Pharmacy –Dentistry or
Engineering ….etc.)
So, to enter such faculties students should sit for SAT (2), if not, SAT (2)
is optional
SAT (2): Is a 2 - 3 subjects course, it can be taken for 2 reasons;

Students that wants to enter practical
faculties like (Medicine – Pharmacy –Dentistry - Engineering or like)

Or Just to raise their total scores as SAT (2)
adds 15% over and above the 100% (8 subjects and SAT (1))
SAT (2) includes subjects such as ( Biology – Chemistry – Physics – Math –
U.S.History – Languages; French, German And Spanish) the student is free to
choose the 2 subjects he/she wants to sit for his/her choice depends on the
faculty he/she wants to enter..
For example;

Biology is essential for faculties of
Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry, Nursing , Veterinary, and Natural Therapy
in addition to one of the three subjects ( Physics or Chemistry or Math)

Math is essential for faculty of Engineering,
Petroleum Engineering,
Oils & Minerals, City Planning, Electronic Engineering (Menouf), Computers &
Information and the Technological Institutes and College Of Fine Arts
(Architecture Dep.)
·
N.B: Physics & Math SAT II are mandatory incase of joining any military
faculties (Technical military, Navy & Air Defense)
(Plus another subject from Physics, Chemistry or Biology)

Important Notice:

Students would be eligible to apply for All
Practical Colleges (Medicine – Pharmacy –Dentistry or Engineering…….etc.) by
taking Biology and Math in SAT2 test.
The SAT (2) test is out of 1600 point (800 points per each subject).
For both SAT (1) and SAT (2);
Students sit for their tests in the place they choose (American center –
AMIDEAST - …etc), these centers are an intermediate between EAS and America,
that are responsible to get the students registration numbers, exams and get
them to apply for the exams, these centers then sends out students answers
back to American to be scored, Students scores are then sent to us from
America through those centers.
** Each trail for SAT 1 costs the students an amount of LE 475, for SAT 2,
each trial costs LE 430 in case he/she chooses 2 subjects test and it costs
LE 475 if he/she chooses 3 subjects test. |
