What is the difference between the American Education and the other systems?

The main difference is that the American system concentrates on developing your child’s critical thinking skills through creative learning at a young age, whereas the Egyptian system is based on rote memorization and the child’s efforts for the entire year are based on final exams. The rote memorization technique does not encourage children to learn on their own, but rather to memorize for one exam, most often forgetting all the material soon after the exam. The American system evaluates the child’s progress throughout the whole year and their grades are based upon the yearly average performance.

Is the American system like the Egyptian system (in regard to the school year) or is it divided into terms?

The American system has two terms which are divided into four quarters. Parent- teachers' conferences will be scheduled after each quarter; progress reports will be issued and discussed at this time. A final report card is issued after the fourth quarter. Parents will not be contacted monthly unless their child is experiencing any difficulty. Of course we encourage and welcome you to contact your child’s teacher with any concerns you may have.
