Program Description:
The aim of the summer school was to raise the fluency and accuracy of English language. This program supported challenging summer education that enabled children to acquire knowledge and different other skills. The program included English language activities, Computer skills, Art and Craft, Music, cooking, and sports such as volley ball, football, and swimming.
The summer school was held with a view to widen participation in education. It was held for five week (17 July – 18 August). Students used their target language in classrooms as well as on field trips. The summer school also prepared students for their next scholastic year by improving language skills, deepening cultural understanding and strengthening confidence of our students as well as students coming from different other schools and countries who joined our summer school this year..
Teaching Strategies:
Summer school staff applied an interactive method of teaching based on conversational and situational learning. The emphasis was on conversation with some attention to grammar, reading, listening, and writing. The lessons in the summer school were lively and varied with an exclusive emphasis on conversational and situational learning.
We believe that the language lessons must be fun, interactive, and should involve learning unconsciously unlike regular school classroom education. Our summer school was conducted in a safe comfortable atmosphere. In the classes we made use of video and other audio – visual materials to ensure that the lessons were as practical as possible. We taught and encouraged the young students how to write their field trip journals. Students wrote their journals accurately and fluently after each trip

We used film on videos as teaching aid. Students
gave oral response and took part in role – play situations.
There was not much detailed written work done but a
substantial amount of verbal instructions and interaction was carried
out, as a result the students acquired refined pronunciation, intonation
and fluency in their spoken language.
Each student created a small booklet to record the
new vocabulary words in alphabetical order.
This was a gradual process and towards the end of the
summer school each student had their own small vocabulary booklets .
